In2015, the United Nations adopted the2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at its core. One of the goals, SDG5, focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. This goal recognizes that gender equality is a fundamental human right and a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world.
Inspired by this vision, WIMAGE was founded in2022 as a response to the global need for a task force dedicated solely to promoting gender equality in electoral management and empowering women in governance. Our founder, Khadija Sesay, is a passionate advocate for women‘s equal representation and participation in decision-making processes, with over a decade of experience in promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
WIMAGE‘s team of dedicated and passionate volunteers working towards creating a world where women‘s voices and perspectives are equally valued in leadership and governance. Our focus is on promoting gender equality, advocating for women‘s political empowerment, and building capacity to ensure effective participation in governance processes. Through our work, we aim to contribute to creating more diverse, inclusive, and representative democracies worldwide.

Our Presence
WIMAGE strives to have a presence in every region of Africa to effectively advocate for women‘s inclusion in decision-making processes. Currently, we have a presence in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and we work closely with local partners and networks in other African countries. Our goal is to expand our reach and impact, and we welcome partnerships and collaborations with organizations and individuals who share our vision and values.
